Managed to get away from work at 3.30pm and decided to head to Skegness as
it's only 40 miles away. Never been there before and no one responded to my
post on the boards web site asking for info but I decided to go for it
anyway.
Got there at mid tide and managed to park behind a pub on the beach front.
After a quick recce I decided to go for the 4.7 with the bigger waveboard;
the steep sloping beach hinted at the shore dump that was to come and there
was a hell of a rip from the left that took 5 kts off the windspeed. Had a
good session but any mistakes were seriously punished by the rip, it
literally sucked the sail underneath the board. As a result of this it was
a case of don't try anything too fancy.
Overall, got a few good jumps and rapid gybes and tacks. The increasing
shore dump and the fact that I was on my own on a strange beach eventually
made me call it a day. Unexpected as I wasn't expecting to get out this
weekend, too busy to go home to Devon, so this was a bonus.
